Ben Witherington: Misanalyzing Text Criticism--Bart Ehrman's 'Misquoting Jesus'

Ben Witherington: Misanalyzing Text Criticism--Bart Ehrman's 'Misquoting Jesus'

In the spirit of balance, here's an interesting critique of Bart's book. It's sort of long, but its a good read. I don't know much about the author, just found him while "Googling".

it seems to me that Mr. Ehrman's faith was rooted in the Bible itself and leaving out the general truths and priciples outlined in the Bile. like the critic said in his writing "just because a particular verse does not affirm a cherished doctrine does not mean that that doctrine cannot be found in the NT." If the Bible is your rock and not Jesus hmself, i can see how you could come to this conclusion. I do feel for Dr. Ehrman. it must be difficult to come to that kind of conclusion about something you've believed all your life. Although he did say in the interview on Fresh Air that he is a "happy agnostic", i guess implying that he is pleased with his life even though he has made this seemingly drastic discovery. i'm not sure how i would handle something like that...
